Delicious Desserts

Background

Many of us have not discovered the pleasure of preparing and cooking delicious desserts, it seems easier somehow (and less risky) to visit the supermarket and buy something already prepared for those special occasions or when we want something sweet. Yet how many times are we disappointed by the shop-bought pudding and concerned at the many added ingredients.

The Delicious Desserts cookery course aims to give you the confidence to prepare and cook a range of lovely desserts at home. So whether it's about expanding your repertoire, using vanilla and gelatine, whisking eggs and cream and turning them into beautiful dishes, or making sweet pastry for that gorgeous raspberry and almond tart, then this course is for you.

The Delicious Desserts course

The day begins at 10am with refreshments and a chance to meet with the others on the course. We begin with a description of the day and the dishes and techniques that we'll cover.
Since numbers on each course are small there's plenty of opportunity to ask questions across the day but this is an ideal time to cover any specific questions you might have.

We have a short talk on health and safety and an orientation of the kitchen and facilities, before donning a lovely crisp apron and starting the cookery day.

Example dishes

Some of the Dishes we cover include:

  • Pavlova with a soft marshmallow-like centre and filled with fresh fruit and cream
  • Vanilla Panna Cotta with a warm berry sauce
  • Making sweet dessert pastry and a raspberry frangipane tart
  • Choux pastry and light-as-air profiteroles
  • Hot chocolate puddings with a melting chocolate centre
  • plus more...

All the dessert dishes we prepare are eaten or sampled across the day.
Lunch is provided and is a homemade soup with crusty bread and cheese.

The course usually ends around 4:45.
All the recipes come in a presentation folder for you to take home.
